This medicine chest, c.1830s, was made in London for the Marchioness of Ormonde, probably Grace Louisa, neé Staples (1779-1860), wife of James Butler (1774-1838) Marquess of Ormonde. Medicines in the chest would have been used to treat family, dependents and servants.
This is currently on display in our Homesick: Domestic Medicine in Ireland exhibition.
