The post of Dun's Librarian originated in the 1780s, when one of the Fellows was appointed to look after Dun's Library. Today the Dun's Librarian is appointed on a three-year terms as the College Fellow with oversight of all matters relating to the Heritage Centre. They also serve as chair of the RCPI Library and Heritage Committee.
The current Dun's Librarian is Dr Eoghan Mooney, Consultant Histopathologist in the National Maternity Hospital and St Vincent's University Hospital, Dublin. He has a long-standing interest in medical history. He is honoured to have been appointed Dun's Librarian at an exciting time for the College's collections, and looks forward to contributing to this development.
