Would you like to work in Dun's Library?

The Heritage Centre is now looking for two library interns to help with our current project to catalogue the historic Dun’s Library.

Dun’s Library was founded in 1713 and is a historical medical library containing about 30,000 items. The aim of the current project is to create an online catalogue of the holdings, with high quality standardized records. The two new interns will be working on our pre-1800 collection of medical and other scientific texts.

As well as gaining experience in library cataloguing the interns will also be involved in our public engagement programme, including this blog, along with providing reading room support and answering enquiries. These internships are an ideal opportunity for someone who has recently completed, or is intending to complete, post-graduate library training, and wants to gain some first hand experience of library work.

You can read what two of our previous library interns thought about the experience of working in RCPI’s Heritage Centre here and here.

The internships are run as part of the JobBridge Internship Programme and applicants need to be eligible for this, details on eligibility can be found here.
