‘Caring for the History of Medicine’ talk at UCD

This month's Centre for the History of Medicine in Ireland seminar at UCD will be on the College's archive. I'm going to be giving a paper looking at the archival collections held by the College and how they are being catalogued and preserved. The first section of the talk will give a detailed over view of the range and scope of material relating to the history of medicine and medical education in Ireland held by the College. I'm also going to be looking at how the current cataloguing process is uncovering hidden gems within existing collections, as well as entire new archive collections. The second half of the talk will look at the role of the archivist, and the work that I am currently undertaking to catalogue the archives, as well as introducing the new online catalogue. I hope that by explaining how I undertake the cataloguing it will make it easier for researchers to navigate the catalogues and identify the material they are looking for.

The seminar is being held on Thursday 27th January at 5pm in Room K114 of the School of History and Archives as UCD.
