Changing Perceptions: Women of Art and Medicine at RCPI

Our art collection helps us tell the story of our profession and its personalities – including their class and gender. It is of little surprise that the paintings in the RCPI's art collection are predominantly of and by men. This new project brings the portraits of and by women to prominence, is an important correction and demonstrates the changing role of women in our history, in the sphere of medicine and in artistic practice.

This Heritage Week, 14 - 18 August, our historic home at 6 Kildare Street will be open to the public from 10am to 4pm, to allow you the chance to explore our art collection. Our new self-guided tour will take you around the building, and allow you to learn more about the women represented in the works as physicians, painters, and patients.
