Harriet Wheelock / Monday 31 July 2017 Heritage Week in RCPI We are delighted to announce that we will be taking part in this year’s Heritage Week, with events taking place from Monday 21 to Thursday 24 August. OUT OF THE DOCTOR'S BAG EXHIBITION The doctor’s bag is the most recognised symbol of the general practitioner. This exhibition explores the development of the bag and its contents over the past two centuries. The exhibition traces the origins of the bag and equipment in the medical innovations of the 19th century, through the Irish Dispensary system to the familiar local GP of the 20th century. It also considers recent developments and the possible replacement of the bag, its contents, and possibly even the doctor, by 21st century technology. Open Monday 21 August to Thursday 24 August from 10am to 4pm, no booking required. TOURS OF 6 KILDARE STREET For those who have always wanted to see behind the facade of RCPI’s splendid Victorian home at 6 Kildare Street, we will be offering guided tour of the building.
