New additions to the Saint Ultan's Hospital archive

The catalogue of the Saint Ultan’s Hospital archive has now been updated to include additional material relating to the hospital recently donated to the collections.

The additional material was donated to RCPI by Se Merry Doyle of Loopline Films, and we are very grateful to Se and Loopline for their generosity.  Loopline were given the material by Dr Barbara Stokes, a former doctor at St Ultan’s, during their making of their biopic of Kathleen Lynn.

The additional material includes;

  • annual reports, publicity leaflets and newspaper cuttings from the early decades of the hospitals existence
  • letters and architectural plans relating to extension to the hospital buildings from the 1940s
  • minutes, notes and other documents relating to the closing of the hospital in the 1980s

Details of all the new material has been added to the existing catalogue of the hospital archive, and the update collection list can be viewed here.

You can watch Loopline’s excellent film on Dr Kathleen Lynn on the IfIplayer.

Please contact the Heritage Centre if you would like to view any of these items, or anything else from our collections.
