Re-launch of the Adopt A Book Programme

One of the biggest challenges in maintaining the collections in the Heritage Centre is the need for ongoing conservation work on the valuable and unique items in the collections. For the last twenty years the Heritage Centre has been encouraging individuals to support this area thought the Adopt a Book Programme. The programme allows supporters to select a book and sponsor its restoration. The contribution of the donor is recorded in a personalised book plate and they are invited to come and view their adopted and restored volume in the College’s library.

As part of the restructuring of the Heritage Centre web pages, the Adopt A Book Programme has been revamped and re-launched. A selection of the books most in need of conservation treatment can now be viewed on the website, with details of what kind of work is needed and how much it will cost. If you are looking for a specific book to sponsor there is a longer list of titles which cover a range of medical topics and authors. As well as looking at items in need of conservation the new web pages also showcase the past success of the programme, with before and after shots of some of the nearly one hundred books which have been conserved through the Adopt A Book Programme.
