St. Luke's Symposium 12-17th October 2015
During the week of 12th -17th October RCPI
will celebrate the feast day of St. Luke, the patron saint of Physicians. St
Luke’s Day, 18th October, has been celebrated by the College since
1667, and is the official start of the College’s year.
The St Luke’s Symposium is the most important occasions in
the college calendar, and has evolved from being a day of celebration into St.
Luke’s Symposium; a week long programme of talks, events, lectures and public
meetings that celebrates achievements in medicine, promotes health and sharing
of knowledge amongst doctors and health practitioners in Ireland.
The schedule for this year’s Symposium is as follows:
Monday 12th October: Public Meeting: Kickstart a Healthier Lifestyle from 18:00-20:00
Tuesday 13th October: Heritage Centre Lectures on Medicine in World War I and the
Kirkpatrick History of Medicine Award from 11:00-17:30. More details available

This will followed by the launch of ‘Healing Touch- An
Illustrated history of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland’.
Wednesday 14th October: Quality Improvement Making Change Happen will showcase the work of the
graduates from RCPI’s Diploma in Leadership and Quality in Healthcare.
Thursday 15th October: National Education Day for Doctors in Training bring together
topics of current interest to all doctors in training.
Friday 16th
October: Advanced Masterclass
focusing on recent advances that have impacted on clinical practice.
Saturday 17th
October: Medicine in Changing
Times, focusing on topics that relate to transforming healthcare delivery
in Ireland and postgraduate specialist training.
