St Luke's Symposium: 'Synaptic Serenades - Musical Narratives of Stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease'

This year’s St Luke's Symposium in RCPI will run over six days from Monday 13 October to Saturday 18 October 2014. There will be a diverse programme of events covering a wide range of topics such as health and well-being, quality improvement, medical education, clinical pearls, and the unique history and heritage of the College. 

Tuesday 14 October features what promises to be a highly enjoyable musical event, entitled 'Synaptic Serenades - Musical Narratives of Stroke, Alzheimer's and Parkinson's Disease'. This will take place in the Corrigan Hall, 6 Kildare Street, between 18:30 and 20:30. The concert will be the first complete performance of three works by Ian Wilson, who was the composer in residence at the National Centre for Arts and Health, Tallagh Hospital Dublin, in collaboration with the Department of Geriatric Medicine and the Stroke Services at Tallaght Hospital Dublin. The works aim to patient narrative of the experience of these three illnesses of older age. This event is in partnership with the National Centre for Arts and Health, Tallaght Hospital Dublin, with performers from the Royal Irish Academy of Music.
