Webcasts now available!

Webcasts are now available of the Heritage Centre lectures on medicine in 1916 delivered during St Luke's Week, and the Kirkpatrick History of Medicine Award presentation. Webcasts of all these talks can be viewed on the RCPI YouTube channel

The talks were all given on October 20th in RCPI, as part of our St Luke's Symposium. The first session looked at the impact of the Easter Rising on three Dublin medical institutions; the National Maternity Hospital, Temple Street Children's Hospital and RCPI itself. In the second session Prof Mark Harrison explored the impact of the Battle of the Somme on military medicine, and Dr John McDonagh looked at its impact on poetry.

There were three shortlisted applicants for this year's Kirkpatrick Award - Stephen Bance, Leanne Calvert and David Kilgannon. All three presentations were extremely good, and the judges took some time to select the winner - Stephen Bance, with his presentation on Polio in Ireland: Rehabilitation and Reintegration in the mid 20th century.
