Harriet Wheelock / Tuesday 6 April 2010 Welcome to the RCPI Dun's Library and Archive Blog The Royal College of Physicians of Ireland's Heritage Centre is undertaking two major cataloguing projects to make catalogues of the entire Dun's Library and archival collections available online. The cataloguing of the library collections is already underway and the electronic catalogue can be accessed here (please note that the catalogue is not at present a complete record of all the library's holdings). The College has received funding for The Wellcome Trust to appoint an archivist for 21 months to catalogue its extensive archival collections, and this project has just started. The main purpose of this blog is to provide updates on how these cataloguing projects are progressing, as well as Library news and insights into the library and archive collections. We hope to highlight interesting items found during cataloguing, and support and promote the study of the history of medicine in Ireland. It is also hoped that this blog will give an insight into what an archivist does, and how they bring order to a pile of files and boxes. Feel free to send us your comments on any of our posts, which will be made public after moderate moderation. If you want to find out more about the Library please have a look at the ‘About us’, ‘History’ and ‘Collections’ pages of the blog, and for more general information on the College the main website.
