Harriet Wheelock / Tuesday 15 January 2013 Where did the books go? Well, in true pantomime style, they are behind you… Last week, as part of the ongoing process of rearranging and e-cataloguing RCPI's library collections, I tackled the Kirkpatrick book collection. This collection of just over 1100 books was part of the large donation relating to the history of medicine, bequeathed to RCPI under the will of Dr Kirkpatrick who died in 1954. When the books came in they were assigned a running number in no particular order, which meant it wasn't always easy to find the book you wanted. This system has now been replaced with a straight alphabetical arrangement by author, and once all the catalogue records have been updated it should be much easier to find and retrieve items from this collection.
