RCPI Masterclass: Homesick - Back to The Future
The Royal College of Physicians Masterclass Series is a benefit of your membership, providing access to leading experts across a variety of specialties in an accessible online format.
The concept of the virtual hospital and virtual clinic are becoming reality for people with chronic diseases such as Diabetes, Heart failure and Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), supporting people to manage their illness in the comfort of their home. This is enabled with remote monitoring using biomedical instruments, smartphone apps and virtual consults. This masterclass will explore virtual care in Ireland, focusing on both virtual care pathways and the ‘virtual ward’ , within the overall context of digital healthcare in Ireland.
The Masterclass theme, Homesick – Back to the Future, brings into focus virtual care paths and the ‘virtual ward’ within the context of digital healthcare in Ireland. Our Heritage Centre has produced an accompanying exhibition which looks the provision of healthcare in the home in Ireland between 1760 and 1900. Homesick: Domestic Medicine in Ireland will run in No. 6 Kildare Street from August 2025 to June 2026.
